A graduate of the St. Petersburg Conservatory in choreography, Elizaveta Shmakova worked at the Academy of Russian Ballet, as well as at the Bolshoi Theater and the Mariinsky Theater before taking up casting for films as part of the SLON Film production company. She worked as a casting director on the films Mermaid and Mars by Anna Melikyan, Treason by Kirill Serebrennikov and Two Women by Vera Glagoleva. She has also worked as a television producer and has written and directed three documentaries.

A casting director works exclusively for the interests of a motion picture, animated film (dubbing), theatrical production or commercial. As a rule, we have deadlines, in addition, the process sometimes becomes more complicated - scripts, directors, sometimes even producers change. But we always work on the production side, and actors need to understand this.
